So, it was National Drink Fresh Squeezed Juice Day yesterday and I missed it. But, really ANY day is a great day to add a small glass or shooter of fresh fruit or veggie juice to your diet. Especially this time of year, flu and cold season, when the vitamins, minerals and other nutrients in certain juices, alone or in drink recipes, can help boost your immunity and overall well-being. And, oh YAY, I have a juicer giveaway for you.
This post is sponsored by Farmhouse Delivery, I received products/services in return for my editorial consideration.

Money can’t buy happiness, but it can buy compression socks, massage tools, foam rollers, mobility gear, and special lotions and potions and some good eatin’ that can soothe sore muscles and quicken workout recovery — in my world, this kind of self-care IS the very definition of happiness. That’s why I’ve put together this Holiday Gift Guide for Sore, Tired, Hungry Runners!

I wrote this poem nearly a decade ago (and won a trip to Fashion Week in NYC) and yet it still seems so fitting today! “It’s fab to wear cotton when grueling at the gym. But more than that, cotton lets me walk a fashion limb. I’ve got cotton denim skinnies that I sport around the town, as well as a hooded jacket and a stellar evening gown. My friends all say I’m stylish, despite my lack of silks and furs, just peek into my cotton closet and I’m sure you will concur”!
Probably the only thing that’s changed about my love for cotton is that I now make a point of purchasing and wearing organic cotton whenever possible. Cotton grown and processed without the use of harmful chemicals, fertilizers and pesticides is better for the earth, the farmers, for me . . and for you! A brand I particularly love is prAna, not just for the intersection of adventure and fashion, but also because their clothing is mindfully made to support sustainable practices and fair trade. Read on to learn more about organic cotton, this company’s best practices, discover my favorite finds for the season and to get a great discount code. Continue reading →
Nothing better than a beautiful salad alongside dinner and there have been so many fresh and colorful “fixings” at the market. In Texas, our seasons seem to not pay attention to the rules — they intersect and linger around, meaning lots of produce choices for me!
For example, I’m still seeing fresh, summery figs in abundance, but also cooler weather fruits and vegetables like pomegranates and purple sweet potatoes. I can’t decide what to choose, so I choose it all and make a Purple Sweet Potato Salad with Figs, Pomegranate & Balsamic Syrup. Read on to get the recipe and (hello) learn more about these out-of-the-ordinary, colorific tubers! Continue reading →

As a healthy food blogger, mom of three teenage boys, and elite master athlete who puts a high value on her clean & green training diet, I spend a lot of time in the grocery store. Err, uuuuh, like every day. Everyone at my favorite H.E.B. knows my name, I feel like Cliff from Cheers bellying up to the bar.
Typically, I don’t mind shopping and actually rather like it. As a fit foodie and recipe developer, I find inspiration being among all the food! But, some days I don’t have the time or energy to spare . Errrh, like recently after a massive travel delay returning from Spartan World Championship in Lake Tahoe. After being away for almost a week, and not arriving home until midnight, I needed to stock the pantry and fridge with staples STAT! Thank goodness and WHOOHOOO for Shipt.com, an on-demand grocery delivery service that recently expanded into the Austin area. Read on to find out more about this amazing way to add value to your life and enter my giveaway for a year membership and $50 grocery credit. Continue reading →
One of the most requested foods my oldest son asks me to bake when he comes home from college to visit is a big batch of muffins. From pumpkin muffins to blueberry muffins to banana chocolate chip muffins, I’m always happy to oblige my son! With limited cooking skills, he’s very grateful – at least I think that’s him saying “thank you” with his mouth stuffed full of my newest muffin Vegan Chai Tea Spiced Apple Muffins.
These are perfect to make ahead for quick breakfasts and snacks, plus they freeze fabulously – so of course extra were made to send back to college. Read on to get the full recipe and the cookbook that inspired these easy vegan muffins. Continue reading →
