Looking to “sleigh” your holiday sweat session? Today, I’m sharing two workings based on on the song, “The Twelve Days of Christmas.” A 12 Days of Christmas Workout is nothing new, there are countless versions floating from gym to gym and around the Internet. They will all get your heart-pumping and make you want to sing (or gasp) along, plus there is something for everyone from the hard-core fitness beast to someone just looking to get in a light workout while on vacation.
I have put together two 12 Days of Christmas Workout Versions today — one for the gym where you have access to various fitness equipment and another one that requires NO equipment and can be done anywhere — in a hotel or at home!
Both 12 Days of Christmas Workouts here play out like the song. Meaning, complete each exercise in ascending order then work back down to 1, adding one exercise per round. Like this: 1, then 2-1, then 3-2-1, then 4-3-2-1, etc. – all the way to 12-11-10-9-8-7-6-5-4-3-2-1. Feel free to crank up the song and try to keep up . . . lol, I don’t think it’s possible, but it still sets a festive mood!
This first 12 Days of Christmas Workout needs a bar — either standard or fixed weight and a slam ball (or can substitute a sand bell). Of course, use the weight that is the best for you — the idea is to keep the best form possible while maintaining a good clip. Heart rate will be taking off and stay up for a while, so I always go down in weight a bit to manage the workload.
All you need for the 12 Days of Christmas Bodyweight WOD is your body! Whoohoo, that makes things easy! Since there is no lifting to manage, I try to work though this version pretty fast and liken it to running a 5k!
