Indulge your little sweethearts with a heart-shaped dinner, it’s a fun way to celebrate Valentine’s Day as a family. I’m not talking about lobster tails or expensive steaks, but a meal that everyone can appreciate. My recipe for Italian Roast Beef Crescent Ring is cheesy, meaty goodness shaped like a heart to win hearts!
Speaking of food crushes, I first made this recipe for BeefLovingTexans.com and have become obsessed with it, making it again and again for casual weeknight dinners and to take to a Super Bowl party (in a football shape, naturally)! It can be cut into small pieces for an appetizer or paired a larger portion with a green salad for a well-balanced meal.
Thinly slice roast beef, fresh spinach leaves, smoky provolone cheese and sun-dried tomatoes play peek-a-boo inside buttery, crescent dinner roll crust that has been seasoned with Italian herbs. Use beef from the delicatessen and dough from the refrigerated section of your market, this 30-minute meal is just that easy!
Older kids can help whip up this dish, or even make it on their own! Let younger children in on the fun too, give them a small cookie cutter to create heart-shaped ingredients for a fruit or green salad.
Here are some of my other Family-Friendly Valentine’s Day Dinner Ideas including heart-shaped cottage fries, a pepperoni “heart” pizza and delicious desserts.
Serve “Kiss of Honey” Strawberry Hot Chocolate for the kids – grown-ups can share a bottle of wine!
Also, did you see my Strawberry Protein Truffles, a great homemade gift for any sweetheart who loves to sweat and make muscles!
So, what are you doing for Valentine’s Day — big date night or do you prefer to stay home with the kids? Please share in the comments – XOXO, Jennifer
- 2 cans (8-ounces each) refrigerated crescent dinner roll dough
- 1 pound roast beef deli lunch meat, thinly sliced
- 2 cups fresh baby spinach
- 6 ounces provolone cheese sliced, and halved into “semi circles”
- 2 ounces un-dried tomatoes, cut in thin strips
- 2 tablespoons Italian Blend Herbs
- 1 cup Ranch Dressing, for serving
-
Preheat oven to 375 F degrees. Lightly spray large baking sheet with cooking spray.
-
Unroll both cans of crescent dough and separate into 16 triangles along perforations.
-
Arrange triangles (with narrow ends of triangle pointed outward) on cookie sheet to form a heart shape with approximate 6-inch opening in center. Fat ends of triangles will overlap a bit.
-
Fold up roast beef slices and pile up along the heart-shaped inner perimeter of crescent dough.
-
Top beef with spinach, halved slices of cheese and sun-dried tomatoes.
-
Pull each pointed end of dough up and over filling, tucking in underneath to secure. Some of the filling will be showing through, that’s okay.
-
Sprinkle top of dough with Italian herbs and garlic salt.
-
Bake at 375 F degrees for 20 to 22 minutes or until lightly golden brown and cheese melting. Let cool for 5 minutes before cutting into slices.
Omg this is so epic. Talk about a meat heart.
I heart beef 🙂
What a delicious idea! My hubby LOVES italian bread- he’d be all over this!

Hi,I check your blog named “Italian Roast Beef Crescent Ring – Love at First Bite!thefitfork.com” like every week.Your story-telling style is awesome, keep up the good work! And you can look our website about proxy server list.
I have made this so many times since seeing it on Pinterest! It is my 10 year old granddaughter’s favorite, and since she requested it for her birthday party this year, I am sharing it with several of the mothers, whose daughters asked for it!
I am SO honored! Tell your grandaughter happy birthday!
Any reason I couldn’t mix the herbs, garlic powder and maybe some parm into melted butter, and brush it on top before baking?
It sounds like a fantastic idea and now I’m wondering why I haven’t been doing that!!! Enjoy!
