Busy morning school routines combined with dwindling daylight hours can make waking up in September a challenge. My boys have become snooze button beasts, but not anymore! They are up and at ‘em earlier with much more enthusiasm now that I’ve added some yummy breakfast eating options to the morning menu.
We all are totally loving the new Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal breads, the thick and hearty whole grain slices make a yummy foundation for slathers for spreads, sandwich fillings, and such. Today, I’m sharing ways to use this delicious breakfast bread, including my Pumpkin Maple Peanut Butter Panini with Banana!
That’s right, I’ve got a pumpkin, knocked out a few squats and have boarded the pumpkin wagon and am not coming back until well after Thanksgiving and maybe even the New Year. From loaves of pumpkin bread to pumpkin lattes, there is a feeling of comfort mixed with a dash of anticipation that comes from the sight, smell and taste of pumpkin. The fact that it’s just as nutritionally sound (packed with vitamins and fiber) straight out of the can, is a huge convenience factor for this busy mama.
Keeping this convenience factor in mind, the Pumpkin Maple Peanut Butter in the panini is equally easy. No grinding of peanuts in the Vitamix and huge messes to clean up. The process is just the mere matter of stirring together a quality peanut butter with canned pumpkin, real maple syrup and a few seasonal spices. A batch of this will stay fresh in the fridge, in an air-tight container, for up to a week.
Then you slather this ahhhhhh-mazingness onto thick slices of Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal bread (Maple Brown Sugar). Those slices are generous, my eyeballin’ bets they’re at least ½” thick each! Next you add sliced bananas, slap the sides together, and crisp up in a skillet or panini press until the bread is toasty brown and the inside is warm and gooey – – it’s just that easy! The kids will looooooooove you for this – it’s like a grilled PB&J for breakfast (that they’ll also be begging for lunch and dinner).
So, let’s get back to this this beautiful, hearty and wholesome bread. As a mom of sports-loving kids (including a mathlete!) and an athlete myself, I look at food as fuel and like to fill our tanks with the best! Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal Bread boasts whole grains, no high fructose corn syrup, a good source of fiber, and no artificial colors, flavors, or sweeteners.
Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal bread comes in both Maple & Brown Sugar and Apple & Cinnamon. These oatmeal varieties are part of the long-loved line up of other Pepperidge Farm Swirl breads, including Pumpkin Spice which is back in stores now! By the way, I found my loaves at Randalls/Safeway in the branded bread aisle near the English muffins and bagels. Use the Store Locator to find some now! And, also don’t miss the special Ibotta offer and save $1 on a loaf.
I hope you get a chance to make the Pumpkin Maple Peanut Butter Panini with Bananas, but in the meantime, here are some other ways to enjoy Pepperidge Farm Swirl Oatmeal Bread:
- Use in your favorite French toast recipe.
- Toast and slather with other nut butters or protein spreads.
- Grill with cream cheese and your favorite fruit preserves.
- Top with sautéed apple slices and caramel sauce.
- Use to make a traditional sandwich with deli meats, sweet-savory yum!
How would this delicious breakfast bread fit into your morning routine? What do you normally like to fix the kids for breakfast during the week? Please share in the comments XOXO, Jennifer
