There is nothing more beautiful and refreshing than a smoothie bowl for breakfast, snack time or a healthy dessert option. My recipe for Watermelon Lassi Smoothie Bowl incorporates the rich, silky-smooth texture of Greek Gods® Greek-Style Yogurt with watermelon to create a yummy treat to cool you off this summer.

I love yogurt straight up out of the carton and as an ingredient in recipes – that’s why a lassi, the yogurt-based drink based in Indian cuisine has always appealed to me! The most traditional type of lassi contains mango and yogurt, but you know I’m anything but traditional – so it’s a watermelon lassi for me!
To give my watermelon lassie enough “body” to be called a watermelon smoothie bowl, I started off with frozen watermelon chunks in my blender. However, you could stick it in a tall cup and call it a watermelon yogurt smoothie, haha! Next added is a serving of Greek Gods® Greek-Style Yogurt in the Honey Vanilla flavor. Greek Gods® makes other flavors of their delicious Greek-style yogurt including Honey Strawberry, Traditional Plain, Honey and a few others. I crave them all equally and love that rich, creamy texture that is less tart tasting than many other Greek yogurts I’ve tried – apparently it’s an “old-world” technique they use, a method where cultured milk turns to yogurt inside the cup, to achieve this signature taste.
I also appreciate how Greek Gods® Greek-Style Yogurt has just a light touch of honey in all the varieties except for plain – there is no additional sugar, sweeteners or artificial things added. Between the yogurt, a splash of juice and the inherent sweetness of watermelon, your sweet tooth will be soothed in a natural, more healthy way eating my Watermelon Lassi Smoothie Bowl.
The fun part (other than eating) a watermelon smoothie bowl is adding the extras on top! Use little bits of this and that to make your watermelon yogurt smoothie bowl uniquely yours – I added frozen tart cherries, chopped watermelon, unsweetened coconut, hemp seed and a bit of mint. So pretty, so yummy, so nutritious for breakfast, a quick lunch, afternoon snack or healthy dessert. A Watermelon Lassi Yogurt Smoothie Bowl (without toppings) has 275 calories, under 10g fat, 44g carbohydrate, and almost 7g protein.
You can find Greek Gods® Greek-Style Yogurt at your local Walmart store in the dairy section where all the yogurts brands are displayed. The 32-ounce containers of Greek Gods® Greek-Style Yogurt should be displayed within the bottom refrigerated well, so look lower than higher!
Are you a Greek yogurt lover? What fruit would you feature in a yogurt lassi? And isn’t a watermelon smoothie bowl really just a watermelon smoothie — what do you think? We food bloggers just getting all fancy with it. Please share in the comments – XOXO, Jennifer
