Favorite Fitness & Healthy Food for Weekend Winning

Raise your hand if you’re ready for a long Memorial Day weekend? I know I am! We’ve had the busiest month filled with graduations, moving kids home from college for the summer, out-of-town races, end-of-year award banquets and school activities and more.

I’m ready for a little R&R and low-stress food duty. My fitness plans are relaxed and go-with-the-flow, but I’m hoping to do some stand-up paddle-boarding, time take a trail run, and to complete the Murph Hero WOD again this year. After all this, the most strenuous meal I’ll be taking on is to grill up my Weeping Tiger Beef Kebabs and they are super tasty and easy! To keep the weekend focused on doing the things that bring me joy, I’m share some of the recent “food and fitness” things that have been adding value to my life!

Optimum Nutrition Protein Wafer Bars - Jennifer Fisher of thefitfork.com

Optimum Nutrition High Protein Wafer Bars: I have a sweet tooth, it’s no secret. However, I try to honor it in a healthier way and protein bars are often on my menu. I’m really digging these High Protein Wafer Bars from ON — They remind me of those old-school wafer sandwich cookies my mom used to put in my lunch box – except these wafer style protein bars are low sugar, low fat and packed with 15 grams whey isolate protein per serving.  Available in Chocolate, Vanilla, Mocha and Chocolate Raspberry (my favorite).

Optimum Nutrition protein ridges baked chips

Optimum Nutrition High Protein Ridges: I’m packing these protein chips in my snack bag for the lake, they’ll satisfy serious crunch cravings without the guilt. These baked protein chips are gluten-free, soy-free, and have 15 grams of whey protein! Having that protein in a chip means I can stay out on the lake a little longer without getting the hangries! I personally like the Cheese flavor, but also available in BBQ, Sriracha Honey, and Sour Cream.

Gigi does keto but was nice enough to hold my watermelons. Bwahaha!

She Does Keto: My amazing, energetic, talented from Gigi Ashworth of GigiEatsCelebrities.com wrote a keto cookbook–  it’s called She Does Keto: The Complete Ketogenic Diet for Women. It releases June 18, 2019 . . .but you can pre-order it NOW (and it’s on sale) at Amazon – Pre-Order HERE!  Gigi shares 115 delicious recipes uniquely designed to meet the nutritional needs of women. She also explains how the keto diet can help some with health problems specific to the female body – and throws down a 21-day meal plan (with shopping lists) to simplify your onboarding into the keto lifestyle. HOWEVER, let me say that even if you are NOT keto, this is not JUST a keto cookbook, it has fit, fresh, low-carb EASY recipes that can have a place in nearly every type of eating pattern.

Ancient Harvest - Heat & Eat Quinoa

Heat & Eat Quinoas from Ancient Harvest: I love quinoa, and even though it’s not particularly hard to make . . . it does take about 20 minutes and leaves a really messy pot to scrub clean. Ain’t nobody got time for that on a crazy-busy days . . . or even relaxing over long weekend days either. These microwavable pouches of quinoa from Ancient Harvest offer plant-based, gluten-free greatness every day of the week and are an amazing solution for eating a quick meal at your desk or after the gym. There are four flavors and each serving has about 8 grams of protein – I like to also mix in chopped spinach, avocado, steamed veggies, leftovers from the grill or whatever else I have on hand!

Register for Spartan Race

Spartan Summer Pass Deal: Now you don’t have to pass up a Spartan Race deal because you can’t deal with summer scheduling right now – I mean if you have the kids’ activities and family vacations already nailed down, I bow down! There is still plenty of time to make up your mind about where and when to race yet still lock in an amazing Spartan Race price – just use the code SUMMER to purchase a race (you’ll need to know what distance you want to run) . . .but then you have until July 5, 2019 to commit to any 2019 OR 2020 race!
