Sweet Sunday sippin’, it’s National Iced Tea Day! Who doesn’t love some sweet tea poured over ice? Today I’m sharing a way to take your tea drinking to a whole ‘nutha level with my Peach Ginger Tea Slushie, it’s a thirst-quenching beverage that will cool you down and rock you right off the porch. It’s low-cal, paleo-friendly, whole 30, and refined sugar free, read on the get the recipe (and some other iced tea recipes too). My husband insists it’s “ice tea” while I say it’s proper to say “iced tea” explaining to him he really is saying “iced,” but he’s just hurrying up the sound of the “d” straight into the start of the “t” in tea. But, who really cares, especially when you’re hot, tired and need a cold beverage to perk up.
This slushie-consistency frozen drink is made with simple black tea bags, a peach, ginger and a bit of stevia for sweetness. I make the tea double strength and let it cool, as it will be diluted back down to “regular” strength with blended up with ice. Since Texas has sweet, juicy peaches in the summer, I use a fresh one from the farmer’s market – however, frozen slices will also work.
As for the ginger, you have a couple options. I used fresh ginger juice that I extract from the gingerroot at home (HERE’S HOW), but you can also use frozen ginger “cubes” found at many retailers or grated fresh ginger too.
Just toss everything for Peach Ginger Tea Slushie in a blender and whirl up! Just 40 calories for this whole big glass of frozen yum, y’all! The calories come basically all from the peach, so it could be a little more or less depending on the size of peach you score! In addition, you also benefit from all the goodness ginger can bring to your diet, like improved digestion, a boost in immunity and inflammation reduction. Learn more about ginger benefits.
