Seriously Good Freezer Meals: 150 Easy Recipes to Save Your Time, Money and Sanity February 22, 2018 by Karrie Truman
I LOVE this cookbook, by Karrie of happpymoneysaver.com. It’s packed with 150 recipes (and beautiful big photos) that will be inspired you to make healthy meals ahead that can be stored in the freezer. There are beginner to advanced meal plans and charts that show you how to make 1 batch or bulk batches for stockpiling the freezer for busy days – I also like to know I have a yummy homemade meal ready to take to a friend at home with a new baby or illness. Morning Energy Bars, Cashew Basil Curry Soup and Pineapple Chicken are some of my favorites.
The Everything Low-Carb Meal Prep Cookbook: Includes: Smoked Salmon Deviled Eggs Coconut Chicken Curry Balsamic Pork Tenderloin Mozzarella and … Lemon Cheesecake Mousse …and hundreds more! (August 14, 2018) by Lindsay Boyers
In my opinion, if you’re not meal prepping, you’re not only losing precious time but you’re jeopardizing your chance for success sticking to a healthy diet. Thanks to Lindsay’s book, you can create healthy, low-carb meals for every day of the week to control exactly what you eat – there are 300 delicious recipes and a sample 2-week meal plan. Some of the recipes on my must-make list are the Coconut Cream with Low-carb Granola, Blue Cheese and Spinach Burgers, and Cauliflower.
The Dirty Vegan: Your Favorite Recipes Made Vegan (November 15, 2017) by Catherine Gill
Okay, ya’ll knoooow I’m not a vegan, but I do believe in the benefits of having lots of fruits and vegies in the diet. Variety is the spice of life and there are often days where I do get all my nutrients from plant-based foods. This book offers vegan alternatives to those traditional comfort foods we all crave There are more than 100 easy recipes using easy-to-source ingredients (nothing to wacky) – I’ve got the “Sausage” YUMbo Gumbo and S’mores Pancakes on my must-make list.
Kinesiology Taping The Essential Step-By-Step Guide: Taping for Sports, Fitness and Daily Life – 160 Conditions and Ailments (February 6, 2014) by John Langendoen and Karin Sertel.
If you need to tape a body part, any body part, this is your book! Super easy-to-follow instructions with big, step-by-step color photos makes it easy find and administer the best taping technique for your condition — like muscle pain, bruising, swelling, strains, sprains, joint support during training, arthritic conditions and more. Using kinesiology tape can help relieve pain and increase mobility, helping to promote recovery if there is an injury or chronic condition. I often tape my hands due to basal joint arthritis and will often tape as pre-care when I feel jumper’s knee or IT band discomfort coming on. It’s just a really great book to have handy on the shelf if you are a runner, obstacle course racer, triathlete, or any other type of athlete.
I’ve tried a bunch of tapes, and I like Rock Tape – – it’s water-resistant, stays put for a couple days, and has a good snug compression feel. They have solid colors, and prints like this Pink Ribbon Tape that would be perfect for Breast Cancer Awareness Month in October. Or, if ya want to go a little more natural, they also make a dye-free hemp tape
Play On: The New Science of Elite Performance at Any Age (release May 7, 2019) by Jeff Bercovici
As a 50+ year old competitive athlete myself, I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on this book (due out in May 2018) that challenges the idea of a “peak age” when it comes to performance across various sports. Through fascinating profiles with older super star athletes (like Tom Brady, Serina Williams, LeBron James) and first-person anecdotes, Bercovici highlights the science and strategies extending the careers of elite older athletes, uncovers the latest advances in fields from nutrition to brain science to virtual reality, and offers empowering insights about how the rest of us can find peak performance at any age. The Rise: An Unforgettable Journey of Self-Love, Forgiveness & Transformation (release date October 23, 2018) by Danette May
I was honored to get a pre-release copy of this inspirational, motivational book that will call you to inspect yourself, heal wounds and manifest your heart’s desire through a variety of tools. So many of her words spoke to me directly and I feel that anyone reading it would gain at least one positive takeaway. Dannette’s advice stems from a “life in shambles” with the tragic loss of her son, divorce, and near bankruptcy to a life transformed through radical truth, self-love and forgiveness. 150 Best Spiralizer Recipes (July 30, 2015) by Marilyn Haugen & Jennifer Williams
Think beyond the zoodle! This meal-inspiring book features 150 recipes that incorporate spiralized ingredients. There are options for vegetarians, gluten-free diets and low carbohydrate diets but also a wide variety of dishes for meat, poultry and fish lovers. Recipes that have piqued my interest are Thai Salad with Peanut Lime Dressing; Curry Beef with Sweet Potato Noodles; and Spicy Shoe String Jicama Fries. Also, if you are looking for the best-ever spiralier IMO and have a Kitchen Aid mixer, I highly, highly recommend their Spiralizer Attachment! Truth be told, I use it more than I actually use the mixer for mixing up stuff!
