So, latest obsession . . . lemon whipped feta cheese! With just a few ingredients, you can turn these humble crumbles into a creamy, crave-inducing, low-carb snack (even keto snack) with with multiple uses other than just shoving straight in the face.
I have always loved feta cheese, but never though of it as something you could spread or dip into. But, with just a few minutes and a few simple ingredients – voila! I’ve done several different versions of whipped feta, but I really like this one using hemp hearts for a nutrition boost. Read on to get the recipe for Lemony Whipped Feta with Hemp Seed.
Nutrition Info: Each serving (about 1 ounce) has 94 calories, 5g protein, 1.4g carbohydrates and 7.8g fat. You can see the full nutrition info breakdown in the recipe.
Why Add Hemp Seeds?: So, hemp seeds are quite the little nutrition powerhouses, with healthy fats, protein and important minerals found in abundance. Around 30-percent of their calories come from fat, but the good, essential fatty acids like linoleic acid (omega-6) and alpha-linolenic acid (omega-3). Also, you know I’m a stickler for protein and the calories in hemp seed are comprised of 25% plant-based protein – that’s noticeably more than similar seeds like chia or flax. Plus, they add fiber, and fiber is good and probably something you’re not getting enough of on a low-carb diet or keto diet.
So How Easy is This Recipe?: Uhhh, hello . . . lemon whipped feta is no-cook, no-hassle and read in 5 minutes. Basically, all you do is put all the ingredients in a blender or small food processor and whip it . . . whip it good (insert Devo music – 😊).
Ways to Enjoy: Obviously Lemony Whipped Feta is the bomb as a snack or appetizer on a cracker, gluten-free cracker (like these yummy, crunchy ones from Simple Mills) or cracker alternative. Try it with cut up fresh veggies, like carrots, cucumbers, celery sticks. You keto folks may enjoy it served alongside eggs, scrambled, omelets or sunny-side up (so good). Warm up a bit this lemon feta spread and use as a low-carb sauce on zoodles, vegetables or your protein of choice. One of my favorite ways to eat it on nights before I have a longer run and need a few carbs, is dolloped right on a sweet potato. The ways to eat this whipped feta are endless.
This obsession all started when I made a similar recipe for Litehouse Foods using their Simply Artisan Reserve Feta Crumbles. That recipe is Southwest Whipped Feta, and yee-haw, it’s equally as delicious.

Tart, tangy and filled with yumminess -- this quick-to-fix appetizer makes a great dip or spread or can be warmed up for a sauce to top proteins. It's low carb and keto-freindly!

- 2 ounces cream cheese
- 1 ounce olive oil
- 2 ounces fresh lemon juice
- 3 tablespoons shelled hemp seeds (aka hemp hearts)

Bring cheese to room temperature. Add all ingredients (except hemp seed) to blender or small food processor. Blend until mostly smooth. Pulse in hemp seeds, top with additional hemp seeds and herbs, if deserved.
