Holiday Gift Guide (and Tips) for Mom and the Sporty Family

This post is sponsored by adidas. However, all comments, opinions and enthusiasm remain my own. Thank you for supporting companies that support The Fit Fork.

As the mom of three young adult males, wife to lifelong athlete and hardcore fitness fan myself, I can confidently call myself an expert on the gear needs and desires of a sporty family. First, there’s “needing” something essential for the playing of a particular sport – like shin guards, or a helmet or a running bra that fits just right. Other times (and probably more frequently), there’s the wishing of some epic new gear, like those buzz-worthy sneakers that just dropped, a jersey in support of a favorite team, or some fancy sunglasses.

This post is sponsored by The National Watermelon Promotion Board, but all content, comments, suggestions and enthusiasm remain my own!

This past week, I hung out at the lake with a couple dozen of my nearest and dearest family members for an extended long weekend. 10 Things to Do at a Watermelon Festival (Luling Watermelon Thump)

This post is sponsored by National Watermelon Promotion Board (watermelon.org) and I received compensation for my time. Opinions and enthusiasm are my own, always.

No secret I try to live on the “wedge” every which way, I seriously think watermelon is my spirit fruit. Not so much as I’m big and juicy and seedy as a watermelon (haha), but more that I’m happy, healthy, and ready to turn any situation into a celebration.

Watermelon has been woven through so many warm-weather in my life and now I have a new page in my ongoing watermelon story – spending the day with my hubby at the Watermelon Thump in Luling, Texas. Luling is a quaint little south-central Texas town with only about 5,500 residents – but on the last full weekend each June the Thump ups that number at least four or five-fold. This “giving time” sounds great in theory, but many of us may avoid it thinking something likely has to give in the daily grind to come up with the spare time.
